DAC cables from TIFNEX
Passive DAC cables connect switch-to-server and switch-to-switch inside a rack with no optics and almost no power draw. TIFNEX supplies DAC from 10G SFP+ and 40G QSFP+ through 100G QSFP28, 200G QSFP56, 400G QSFP-DD/QSFP112 and 800G OSFP, in lengths from 0.5m to 7m.
Higher speeds reduce the maximum passive reach, so at 400G and 800G most links stay at 1m to 3m. For longer runs, see active copper and AEC or AOC cables.
Common questions
How long can a passive DAC be?
Around 5m to 7m at 10G and 25G, and around 2m to 3m at 400G and 800G.
Do DAC cables need to be coded for my switch?
Yes, most switches check the cable EEPROM. We code each DAC for the platform you specify.
Can I connect two different switch brands with one DAC?
Yes, with a dual-coded cable programmed for each vendor at either end. Tell us both platforms when you order.
