Buying guide
AOC cables from TIFNEX
AOC cables have transceivers permanently attached to both ends of a multimode fiber. They are lighter and thinner than copper, so they are easier to route through dense racks, and they reach much further, typically up to 30m to 100m.
TIFNEX supplies AOC from 10G SFP+ and 25G SFP28 through 40G, 100G, 200G and 400G QSFP and 800G OSFP, coded for Cisco, NVIDIA, Arista, Dell and Juniper. For in-rack links, DAC cables are cheaper.
Common questions
How far can an AOC cable reach?
Most AOCs are offered up to 30m, and some up to 100m, depending on the speed.
Can I replace an AOC cable end if it fails?
No, the optics are fixed to the cable. If one end fails, the whole cable is replaced.
AOC or transceivers plus fiber?
AOC is simpler and usually cheaper for fixed links up to about 30m. For structured cabling through patch panels, use transceivers and patch cords.
